multiple user accts

i installed over xp with 2 accts, both administrator, and on acct will not load desktop properly. background loads but "windows explorer cannot continue" message appears as icons load and the only thing that will run is task mgr. with ctrl-alt-del. can use run prompt but user acct seems useless, the other acct works fine but i fear deleating the non-working acct. will slide issue to the working acct. any ideas on resolve are appreciated
